1891

The brothers Edouard and André Michelin
begin the production of wheels in Clermont Ferrand as a result of a patent for the first demountable bike tyre.

 

1906

Development and start of production of
the fi rst demountable wheel for passenger cars.

1910

Start of production of the fi rst spare wheel.

1957

Move of the wheel production to La
Chapelle St. Luc / Troyes.

1958

Start of production of onepiecewheels
with well for passenger cars.

 

1970

Start of production of onepiecewheels
with well and 15° bead seat angle for trucks.

1980

Foundation of a second steel wheel
production plant in Aranda de Duero (Spain).

 

1997

Michelin acquires 51% of the Mannesmann
Kronprinz AG from Mannesmann
in order to strengthen its market position
in the steel wheel business.

 

1999

Complete takeover of the Michelin Kronprinz
Werke shares by Michelin. 

2001

Reorganisation of the wheel business (separation
from the Michelin tyre business) and
creation of Michelin Roues France S.A.S..

 

2003

Decision to close Aranda plant and transfer
of the activities and of parts of the
machinery to Michelin Roues France and
Michelin Kronprinz Werke. 

 

 

 

 

2005

Takeover of the complete Michelin wheel
business (LPRE) by mefro group from
the 1st of January 2005 and integration in
mefro wheels GmbH.
